Gratitude and Contribution

by Amanda Chong

Covid-19, Gratitude

It’s almost 2 months since our government announced movement control order (MCO) amidst Covid-19 pandemic. How have you been?

Let’s have a quick reflection. What is your most grateful event throughout this MCO? Well, many people might be scratching their head thinking “How can I be grateful when I can’t hang out? How can I be grateful when my business can’t operate?…” Think harder.

I used to commute to work every day and it took away a significant amount of time. With MCO in effect, I reclaimed this 4 hours, doing things that I couldn’t do otherwise. For instance, to have dinner with my family. Away from home for almost 10 years, I hadn’t been able to spend as much time with my family as I have for the past 2 months. Having the privilege to enjoy home cooked meals, share stories, and motivate each other as a family is one of the best things I could ever ask for.

We don’t have to be filthy rich to contribute. We don’t have to be the most powerful person to be happy. As quoted by Henry Ford, “Paying attention to simple little things that most men neglect makes a few men rich”.

So, what is your most grateful event throughout this MCO? What have you contributed?
